 he village of Mauzé, 2kms away, offers the local conveniences of a good grocery shop, of a baker and pâtissier, as well as a chemist. The small medieval city of Thouars, 5kms away, has a number of large supermarkets, a post office, a railway station, tennis courts, an open-air swimming pool, several very good restaurants plus numerous shops and amenities.
 e also recommend that you walk around the various open-air markets that are held in Thouars (every Tuesday and Friday morning), in St Varent (every Sunday morning, plus a monthly fair every 3rd Sunday of the month) and in Argenton Château (every Thursday morning).
