he Pressoir was built in the heart of the countryside, and its status of classified monument has allowed for the area around it to retain its rural quality with its cultivated fields, moors and woods. Whatever side of the manor you may be standing on, the panoramic views over the countryside are very pretty.
The property is a haven of tranquility. Only one communal path that links the village of Mauzé to that of St Jacques de Thouars passes in front of the property (with a maximum of 20 vehicles a day). The only slight inconvenience might come from the faint sound of the activity of a stone quarry nearby - depending on wind direction. |

n one of the dependencies bordering the lawn, a large and very rare 12th century Romanesque chimney, made in the English style, - a relic of the old fortress - can be used for doing BBQs. A garden set of table and chairs are at the disposal of the Pressoir’s guests.
Located in the extension of a wildlife sanctuary, the Pressoir is also home to an owl, a kingfisher, a green woodpecker, a family of peacocks, of kestrels, of several herons, of numerous bats and to a wide variety of airborne, land borne and aquatic animals. This is the reason why it will unfortunately not be possible for our guests to bring their pets with them to the Pressoir.
Parents will be careful not to let their young children walk unattended around the (unstable) ruins, the barn, the troglodytic caves (similarly dangerous), or the pond.
