"he Pressoir" is a classified monument (ISMH) that includes living quarters, a number of dependencies, and some ruins, remainders of a fortress probably dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries, as well as a manor house built in the 13th, 16th and 17th centuries.

he name “Pressoir” was first mentioned in a 1363 charter. “The Grape Press” (Pressoir) reminds us that the property was, until recently, surrounded by vineyards and provided their wine to the Dukes de la Tremoille, who occupied the majestic nearby castle of Thouars. The Pressoir was a “fief” (a property owned by a lord in exchange for his services to his superior, a Count, Duke or Prince) that depended on the Viscount, then of the Duke of Thouars. Several other fiefs and minor lord-owned properties of the region depended for their part directly on the Pressoir.
